Briana Vecchione is a Technical Researcher with the AI on the Ground team at Data & Society Research Institute and a Ph.D. graduate from Cornell University. Her work centers on sociotechnical auditing and accountability, with a recent focus on evaluating large language models (LLMs) in mental and behavioral health and their roles in support, meaning-making, and care. Her work has been published in leading scientific journals and conferences such as Communications of the ACM, ACM CHI, and a Best Paper Award at ACM FAccT. Briana's research has been supported by leading institutions and funders, including Google, Facebook, Microsoft, the National Science Foundation, the MacArthur Foundation, the Mozilla Foundation, and the Notre Dame–IBM Tech Ethics Lab.
