Briana Vecchione is a Technical Researcher with the AI on the Ground team at Data & Society Research Institute and a Ph.D. graduate from Cornell University. She studies sociotechnical auditing and accountability, and how large language models shape mental health, meaning-making, and care, with contributions spanning research, advocacy, and AI governance policy. Her work has been published in leading scientific journals and conferences such as Communications of the ACM, ACM CHI, and a Best Paper Award at ACM FAccT. Briana's research has been supported by leading institutions and funders, including Google, Facebook, Microsoft, the National Science Foundation, the MacArthur Foundation, the Mozilla Foundation, and the Notre Dame–IBM Tech Ethics Lab.
